Puppy Kindergarten Classes

The Craig A Murray Puppy Kindergartens are designed to correctly target the individual puppy and owner's needs and the pup's temperament and behaviour.  We are vitally aware that this critical time in a puppy's development can either produce a wonderful companion and canine ambassador within the community or an animal that is not well suited to living in a pet or companion relationship and can even cause masses of undue stress for it's owners and their neighbours or even cause local government authorities to have to intervene to regain some neighbourhood satisfaction.

We do our utmost to educate dogs and owners on correct behaviours and how to gain them and also on incorrect or unwanted problem behaviour and how to diminish or extinguish it.  Our puppy kindergartens are based on early development of desirable traits and not based on obedience or product marketing.  We believe that this stage of a puppy's life is extremely important to gaining the magnificent companion and pet and once this critical period is over, you can never gain the ability to instil the optimum behaviour and will be merely playing catch up. Puppy kindergarten is for pups from 8 to 16 weeks of age as the true social exposure window for pups is from 7 to 16 weeks but we only accept the puppies two weeks after their initial 6 week vaccination for health purposes.  All of our puppy kindergartens are 4 x 1 hour classes per course. The structure of our Puppy Kindergarten is to teach pup’s owners about correct discipline to enhance the human dog relationship, and to teach the pup and owner what is acceptable behaviour patterns to be enhanced, and which unacceptable behaviours should be diminished. We also teach how to prevent fearful behaviours, and how to gain correct structure within the household.

The Puppy Kindergarten is not a structured obedience class for puppies, it is rather an early education system to prepare puppies for adapting to all new learning experiences throughout their entire life. The difference this makes to the adult dog that has attended is unbelievable and there is no substitute for correct early imprinting of pups. A correct Puppy Kindergarten should promote a reliable stress free puppy that has been adequately exposed to as many normal environments and environmental effects as possible, whilst limiting any unwanted or bad behaviours.

Juvenile Puppy Classes

We identified that quite a need existed for our clients from puppy kindergarten until the time they started their basic obedience course.  For that reason, we developed a juvenile specific course that most of our clients had requested.  Whilst puppy kindergarten is totally designed to capitalise on the pups critical period, the juvenile does not need to hit such behavioural specifics.  The juvenile is designed to give ongoing exposure to pup and owner to new dogs and people and to help us get pup and owners relationship into a great social structuring basis which teaches the dog how to be in a sound and productive hierarchy system.

We teach a myriad of different behaviours and exercises which help to add value to your dogs life and your relationship.  We start to work on lifting the dogs compliance levels and especially start to desensitise the pups to being overly stimulated by high stimulation environments and effects.  We also introduce some lifestyle regimes and some of our great assistance dog calming techniques.  This course allows our dedicated clients to keep continuity from acquiring a pup to puppy kindergarten and then juvenile and finally the basic obedience course - all greatly limiting the chance of behaviour problems.
